Did you remember to DeWeed, Prune and Water your mind garden today?

My affirmation of the day today says,

‘My garden of positive thoughts is blooming.’

Such a beautiful affirmation, isn’t it? We all need to remind ourselves of this every single day.

Just like a gardener deweeds, prunes and waters your garden, we need to work on our mind garden too by:

  • Deweeding the negative and disempowering thoughts regularly
  • Pruning the useless and repetitive thoughts  and
  • Encouraging the thoughts that empower and motivate us.

Let's have some practical examples to understand this further.

DEWEED (Take out unwanted thoughts from the roots)

Statements such as these can be taken out completely from the mind.

  • I am so stupid, I can’t cook.
  • I can never drive on the freeway.
  • I am always miserable and anxious.

PRUNE (Discourage and /or Distract)

We can move away from repetitive thinking of statements such as these by distracting the mind or thinking little differently.

  • Learning this new language is so hard, why am I even trying this?
  • I have tried to cook this dish so many times, I am never able to get it.
  • Parenting is so hard.

WATER ( Encourage and Empower)

We can choose and encourage more of these kinds of thoughts

  • I choose to cook this dish and I can do this well.
  • With regular practice, I can drive easily on the freeway
  • I am learning simple tools to manage anxiety, I am getting better everyday.
  • Whenever I learn something new, it may seem harder initially and then it begins to get easier.
  • While parenting can be hard sometimes, the joy in parenting makes the journey worth it.
Like a gardener, we need to constantly be alert in our mind garden.
Remember to Deweed, Prune and Water your garden today.
